Comments about Equinox 8 ft. x 8 ft. Coated Nylon Tarp:

I love this thing. You can pitch it with hiking poles or Eureka aluminum tent poles. I put an extra grommet right in the center (reinforced with repair tape). When I go car-camping I can put a telescoping pole right in the center with four tent poles on the corners, guyed with two lines each (learn the tautline hitch!). Throw some cammo netting over it and you've got a shelter that is cheaper, lighter, and stronger than an Easy-up. For backpacking pitch it with hiking poles. It may not be as light as silnylon, but it's cheaper and way lighter than a poly tarp. It's fun to get creative with it and try to pitch it over hammocks and between trees. It packs down well. I think the 8' x 8' is a good shape and size for solo backpacking.

I searched far and wide for a good tarp which would not cost an arm and a leg. This is it. With a few easy modifications it will become an excellent tarp.

this stowed away in my pack so easy taking up little room. Its size is great to go along with my hammock as it will cover the tops of my tether, with extra room.

This would work fine as a footprint for an 8 x 8 tent.
